The final four of the 28th season of
Dancing With the Stars shimmied around the ballroom for the last time Monday night and while it was a little bittersweet not seeing James Van Der Beek in the mix, Fifth Harmony member Ally Brooke,
The Bachelorette's Hannah Brown, actor Kel Mitchell and country singer Lauren Alaina still made the finale one to remember.Up until a few weeks ago, the season had become nightmarish, as amazing contestant after amazing contestant continued to get eliminated while
Sean Spicer remained. He avoided the bottom two, where the judges could oust him, for so long many wondered if he could actually win this thing. Before the actual winner was announced, each pair performed two dances, and if you thought the past weeks were emotional, last night's episode had all the tears.Hannah admitted to "having breakdowns and breakthroughs," while her partner Alan Bersten broke down and said he was "honoured" to go on that journey with her. "This has been the most exceptional experience that I've ever experienced." Aw. Meanwhile, Lauren told her partner, Gleb Savchenko, that despite the times she didn't feel good enough, he had faith in her. "I've never had a partner like Lauren before," said a teary Gleb. "She taught me a lot. After this season, I'm definitely a better teacher and a better human being." And that was just from the pros! After each of the competitors performed their final two dances, they each watched videos from family, friends and some special guest stars. Demi Lovato and Chris Harrison had messages for
The Bachelorette alum, Kel heard from his old pal Kenan Thompson, Gloria Estefan made Ally cry and Reba McEntire spoke to Lauren. Add in performances by Pitbull and Cher and it was finally time to honour the season's best dancer. But first, the runners-up,Fourth place went to Lauren and Gleb.
The real shocker was Ally and Sasha Farber, who came in third.
Kel and Witney Carson finished in second place.
And that meant Hannah and Alan were the winners. All the crying and letting go of all those emotions paid off since it certainly translated in Hannah's dances week after week and last night's Viennese waltz and freestyle were no different. Not only was it the first time someone from the reality dating series has taken home the Mirrorball Trophy but it was Alan's first win, too. Congrats to both of them!
