Guys, are you ready to feel some feels? Because Hanson just released a new video and even the biggest haters can’t deny that it’s adorable, not to mention set to a catchy tune. It’s been 20 (!!!) years since “MmmBop” was released, when Zac, Taylor and Isaac Hanson were just 11, 14 and 16 years old, respectively, and now the brothers are celebrating their 25th (!!!) anniversary as a band with “I Was Born.” The best part? It features 11 kids — who just happen to be theirs.
“Featuring our own kids made sense because we knew they would share an honest performance,” Zac told People. “We loved the fact that it added another dimension to the story of pursuing our dreams for the last 25 years.”
In 1997, Hanson proved that it wasn’t just cuteness that can take you to the top of the charts, it also took pure talent and perseverance. So featuring their own children in a video for a song that sends the message that kids can do anything brings it all full circle.
“From the earliest conversations about this song, we imagined kids featured in the video to elevate the song’s message of unbridled optimism for the future,” said Taylor. But how cool was it to see their own kids rocking out and lip-syncing like champs?
“There was a lot of excitement across the board from the kids so we tried to just capture that in each appearance, which cover the gamut of their many personalities,” said Isaac. “Thankfully for us, they all love the song.”
As do we. Everything these guys did back in the day, up to what they’ve become, is perfectly represented in “I Was Born.” It’s the kind of positive and upbeat song we all need right now. Leave it to Hanson to give it to us.
