When two people get together, people ask them when they’re getting married. And when they get married, people ask when they’re having kids. But after they have one, people want to know when they’re having more. It’s a vicious cycle that every couple has endured. So Matt Kay and Abby Lee decided enough was enough and came up with the perfect response to silence all those invasive questions.

Their pal, photographer Elisha Minnette, had a brilliant idea to do a photoshoot with their new dog Humphry. And since Minnette has photographed many newborns in her time, she knew the perfect poses to subject poor Humphry to.

The intention wasn’t to make fun of new parents sharing photos of their babies, Minnette told Buzzfeed. They “just wanted to show a different kind of newborn.” And the pics went viral once she shared them on Facebook.

So, the photos of Humphry in a pram, in a basket, and holding hands (er, paws?) with his parents are all totally adorable. As are the shots where Humphry is cuddling with his parents, or when they’re all in bed showing off their feet (and paws). To be honest, it’s all just very precious. Though we have to imagine that having him swaddled must’ve taken loads of treats, no?
