If there’s one thing that 2020 has taught us, it’s that when things are falling apart or going sideways, always look for the people who are helping. There have been countless stories this year of people going above and beyond to help strangers or their community, in an effort to bridge the gaps that divide us and promote unity. That is clearly something on the minds of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan, as they announced Tuesday that they are launching a podcast with Spotify called Archewell Audio. Of course, the announcement, just like their retreat from Royal life, has been quite the departure from what might be expected of royalty.

In short, it’s just too cute for words. The teaser clip for the podcast, which will drop later this month and will be free to subscribe and stream, features Harry and Meghan brushing up their speaking voices before officially announcing the deets of the podcast.

“Should we start? No?” asks a confused Prince Harry before saying to Meghan, “Ladies first.”

“No, say it,” Meghan replies sweetly. “I think it sounds really nice when you say it with your accent.” Yes. We can confirm that British accent is indeed the bee’s knees.

Harry, a bit bewildered responds, “What, Archewell Audio?”

To which Meghan responds with, “Yeah!” When he repeats it, she teases “I mean  . . .”

“Really?” he asks.

The banter! The flirting! The obvious comradery! They. Are. So. Adorkable!

In their official joint press statement, the pair announced Archewell Audio by asserting their passion for sharing stories and connecting with people. “What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take a moment and to really listen, to connect to one another without distraction. With the challenges of 2020, there has never been a more important time to do so, because when we hear each other, and hear each other’s stories, we are reminded of how interconnected we all are.”

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex may live in California but the power of their voices rests in their status as citizens of the world,” said Dawn Ostroff, Spotify’s Chief Content and Advertising Business Officer. “That they are embracing the extraordinary capacity of podcasts on Spotify while also seeking to elevate underrepresented voices is a testament to their appreciation for the potential of audio storytelling. We are proud to partner with The Duke and Duchess and look forward to listeners hearing directly from them and the other creators that they will be elevating via our global platform.”

In the preview clip, the Sussexes even hum a little holiday jingle (“Ding ding ding!” Harry sings as Meghan giggles at him), before Meghan adds, “We’re talking to some amazing people. They’re going to share their memories that really shape this past year, which has been, as we know, a difficult one for everyone.”

“So many people have been through so much pain this year,” Harry continued, “experiencing loss, a huge amount of uncertainty — but it feels worth acknowledging that 2020 has connected us in ways we have never imagined through endless acts of compassion and kindness.”

The pair finished out the clip with Harry saying, “Welcome to Archewell Audio.” But not before Meghan teasingly saying, “Oh, he has a podcast voice!”

This news comes after the couple  signed with a talent agency earlier this year, and then inked a major Netflix deal. That last big power-couple to launch a podcast was Michelle and Barack Obama, so perhaps they are taking a leaf out their booklet? Honestly, we can’t wait to hunker down during the long holiday lockdown and just listen to both the Sussexes and the Obamas tell us the good news of the world.

Since officially retreating from Royal duties, the couple have also repaid their Royal debt to the tune of $4.2 million big ones. Now with this new podcast and a glimpse into their rapport, it would seem that Harry, like his mother before him, is doing things differently. And we are here for it.
