Six weeks ago, it seems Oprah Winfrey and Ellen Degeneres welcomed some new neighbours into their exclusive Santa Barbara community. That’s when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex apparently moved into their new permanent home in an upscale California enclave that has long been home to their rich, famous and privacy-seeking peers.Speaking to a source in the know, Page Six reports that the once-removed Royals have been settled in their possible forever home since early July, forgoing a home base in L.A. for a quieter, more private community. “Harry and Meghan never intended to make Los Angeles their home,” said the source explaining that the temporary La La Land locale they originally chose was simply “a good place for them to be upon their arrival in the U.S. to be close to Meghan’s mom.”After getting their bearings (following a stay in an $18 million home said to belong to Tyler Perry), the Sussexes have struck out on their own and committed to a new house bought and paid for by, well, them. “They are not houseguests of Oprah or anyone else, they bought this home themselves. This is where they want to continue their lives after leaving the U.K.,” reports Page Six.[video_embed id='2012021']RELATED: 'Finding Freedom' author Omid Scobie says Meghan and Harry were under attack even before the altar[/video_embed]Page Six’s source confirms that the couple hope the new home will be theirs for the long term, saying, “They intend to put down their roots in this house and the quiet community, which has considerable privacy. This is where they want to bring Archie up, where they hope he can have as normal a life as possible.”Meghan and Harry’s own spokesperson also backed up the story with a statement on behalf of the pair. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into their family home in July of this year,” they confirmed. “They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival and hope that this will be respected for their neighbors, as well as for them as a family.”There’s no word on the size of the couple’s cozy new home-sweet-home, but Santa Barbara properties have been known to go for as much as $100 million. For example, Oprah’s nearby Montecito mansion was purchased by the media mogul for a cool $90 million. Starter homes, they are not—and yet: “This is the first home either of them has ever owned,” said the source. “It has been a very special time for them as a couple and as a family—to have complete privacy for six weeks since they moved in.”Here's hoping that their neighbours continue to respect their privacy.[video_embed id='2011080']BEFORE YOU GO: These twins reacting to Phil Collins is the best thing on the internet right now[/video_embed]
