Harry Styles is returning to 30 Rock this week to pull double duty as both the host and musical guest for Saturday Night Live, but before the cue cards have been finalized and the monologue has been perfected, Styles must release his promo for the upcoming episode. Prepare to see an upswing in ‘Harry Styles foliage fanfic.’
Styles is joined by longtime cast member Keenan Thompson in the new promo, which shows the two men casually strolling around the SNL studio as Styles shares his excitement about being back in Studio 8H. “I’m going to do some characters, I’m going to sing, I’m pretty much down for anything,” says Styles. Piquing Thompson’s interest, the SNL castmember invites Styles to enjoy the magic of fall with him.
So, what does classic fall fun look like if you’re Harry Styles? It looks like taking a running dive into a pile of leaves.
It looks like lying on a bed of leaves.
It looks like joyfully throwing leaves in the air with reckless abandon.
It looks like tossing leaves directly into the camera to bring the joy of fall to viewers.
It looks like throwing leaves from various angles.
And finally, it looks like watching leaves fall from a fake tree while contemplating the meaning of life. Maybe autumn is our favourite season?
Watch the whole thing in one glorious clip below.

Harry’s return to the SNL stage is in anticipation of singer’s second studio album. Styles announced his sophomore effort Fine Line on November 4, with the British singer revealing that the album will drop on December 13.
Styles followed up his album news with a tour announcement for Europe and North America, which will kick off in the UK in April and include three Canadian stops. Styles will perform back to back dates in Toronto at the Scotiabank Arena on July 3 and 4 and return to Canada on August 23 to play the Rogers Arena in Vancouver.

Styles’ upcoming SNL performance will likely include a performance of his lead Fine Line single “Lights Up,” with the former One Direction member dropping the new song and video on October 10. Contrary to the name, the video takes place mostly in the dark, with a shirtless Styles surrounded by equally undressed young people who writhe and sweat around the musician. The song has failed to have as big an impact on the charts as Styles’ “Sign of The Times,” which was the lead single from his debut self-titled album in 2017. Still, “Lights Up” is a moody and sexy rallying cry that could see a big boost in streams after this week’s SNL.
Saturday’s appearance marks Styles’ first time as host on SNL. The singer was the musical guest with his band One Direction in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and returned as a solo performer in 2017, where he also joined host Jimmy Fallon for a handful of sketches. Styles is the first star to pull double duty as both the host and musical guest during Season 45, which has already seen some big-name guests, like Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Coldplay, Woody Harrelson and Billie Eilish.
SNL veteran Will Ferrell has been announced as the host on November 23, marking the comedian’s fifth appearance since leaving the show as a regular cast member. Comedian Eddie Murphy will also be returning to his old stomping ground for the first time, with the former SNL castmember hosting the December 21 show.
