If you’ve been outside in the past month, it’s safe to say you’ve noticed just how HOT this summer has been. While that’s really nice for a day trip to the beach, sometimes all you want is to cozy up with a soft blanket in a nice, air-conditioned room, and get away from the heat for a while. We’re definitely with you on that one, and so eTalk‘s very own Traci Melchor has lined up a whole batch of amazing new shows that August has to offer. Get comfy, crank up that A/C, and enjoy!

LIGHTS OUT WITH DAVID SPADE

Don’t miss it

Premiered Monday, July 29 on Comedy

Why you should watch

Described as a “comic round-table where Spade and a rotating cast of stand-ups riff on popular culture and internet memes”, ‘Lights Out’ doesn’t focus on political content, unlike many other late night shows. Instead, we’re going to get sketches, field segments, and David Spade’s hot (and hilarious) takes on pop culture. Airing immediately after ‘The Daily Show With Trevor Noah’ Monday through Thursday, this is guaranteed to keep us laughing practically every night.

HBO’S A BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW

Don’t miss it

Premieres Friday, August 2 only on CRAVE

Why you should watch

Starring and executive produced by Robin Thede (formerly the head writer on ‘The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore’), this new half-hour narrative series is set in a limitless magical reality full of dynamic, hilarious characters and celebrity guests. Each half-hour episode presents sketches performed by a core cast of black women, including Thede herself. Oh, and did we mention this is the first sketch series cast comprised entirely of black women, and it boasts the first all-black women writers room? WE LOVE IT!

FLIP IT LIKE DISICK

Don’t miss it

Premieres Sunday, August 4 on E!

Why you should watch

This is a reality docu-series following Scott Disick, of Keeping Up with the Kardashians fame, as he flips and remodels high-end homes. Scott works alongside former pop singer-turned-interior designer Willa Ford; his best friend and business partner Benny Luciano; their all-star short-tempered contractor Miki Moor; and Disick’s assistant Lindsay Diamond to complete the remodels. In the first episode we see him working on Steve Aoki’s home & in a later episode he works for French Montana. Oh, and you already KNOW there’s going to be drama.

LOVE ISLAND & LOVE ISLAND AFTERSUN

Don’t miss it

Finale airs Wednesday, August 7 on CTV

Why you should watch

*Sheds tear*. It’s time to say goodbye to our summer obsession – the ‘Love Island’ finale will air at 8 PM on Wednesday, August 7th followed by the final episode of ‘Love Island Aftersun’, live at 9 PM ET.
If you don’t already know, ‘Love Island’ sees a group of single “Islanders” on the lookout for romance come together in a stunning villa in a beautiful tropical location. As always, the road to love never runs smoothly, as they must not only choose their partner wisely, but also win the hearts of the public who gets to vote and weigh in on these couples online or through an app. During the final week of the series the audience gets to vote on which twosome they think should win the entire show and a hefty cash prize… which is exciting, but also sad, because it’s the final week. We’ll miss you, ‘Love Island’!
