He’s here! Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have welcomed their first child, Buckingham Palace has confirmed. The Queen’s latest great-grandson was born in the early morning hours of Monday, May 6. Baby Sussex weighed in at 7 lbs., 3 oz., and Harry was, of course, at Meghan’s side.

“Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to announce” the news that mom and their son is “healthy and well” and thank everyone for their shared excitement and support.” Um, yeah we are!

They added that they’ll share more details, including the location of the birth, in the coming days so if you need us, we’ll be refreshing their Instagram page every hour.

Unlike Duchess Kate, whose hair and makeup was probably done shortly after the births of her three children, and William’s struggle with the carseat was witnessed by millions, Meghan and Harry had some time to themselves after their baby was born—which is exactly what they wanted.

According to the Palace, Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, is with her daughter and Harry at Frogmore Cottage and she is also “overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild.” The Palace added that “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.”

Baby Sussex marks the Queen’s eighth great-grandchild and the fourth grandchild for Harry’s father, Prince Charles and is the seventh in line for the throne. No name has been announced yet but that will obviously be the next big story coming from the royal couple and their royal babe.

Now that Harry and Meghan have entered the next phase of their lives—parenthood—they’ll hide out for as long as possible before Harry heads back to royal duties after taking an expected paternity leave, though Meghan might not be that far behind as she reportedly doesn’t want to extend her maternity leave and plans to return to work as soon as possible.

As for the baby, we won’t be seeing his adorable face until Meghan and Harry want to share it with us, and we’re okay with that. They should savour these precious moments while they can because going forward, every move this child makes will be photographed, recorded, documented and scrutinized by the media and public from all over the world—maybe even more than Will and Kate’s kids.

This is what he will have to endure over the course of his life, this international stardom he’s been born into.

For now, they need to take advantage of what little peace they have. Congrats to the new parents!
