Whether you want to admit it or not, the reality is that most salads suck.

When you buy one at a restaurant or grocery store, they’re mainly loaded with iceberg lettuce and a few croutons. Honestly, most of us are lucky if we find a cucumber wedge or sliver of carrot in there. But it turns out salads can actually be awesome. And no, we’re not trying to sound like some kind of lame dietitian here–they can actually be great. The problem is simply that most people are making salads wrong. Like, horribly wrong.

Fortunately, we now have the secret to making a salad that will rock your veggie-hating world. We should warn you though, this is likely going to flip your idea of what a salad should look like on its head.

The first step to making a good salad is–brace yourselves–not using lettuce. That’s right, no lettuce. And we’re hardly scratching the surface, either. To see what goes into making a salad that not only tastes great, but will actually fill you up, check out the video above.
