Things are tough right now. A global pandemic is terrorizing the world, businesses are closing, and people are living in a state of constant fear of becoming sick. Now more than ever, we need any wins we can get, big or small. Today that win comes courtesy of the Marvel Universe and the female gaze. Take a five minute homeschool teaching break from trying to remember how to do long division and let the soothing sight of Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal performing shirtless handstands make you feel like all is right in the world.Holland demonstrated what is likely an impossible task for mere mortals: putting on a shirt (boo) while performing a handstand with a wall assist. But let’s remember that Holland is a trained dancer who starred in Billy Elliot, a gymnast, and has spent the past four years working out with professional trainers in preparation to play Spider-Man five times. In other words, don’t beat yourself up if you put your shirt on one arm at a time while sitting upright like a lazy person. Holland takes a minute but manages to get his shirt on and still have the mental energy to nominate his Spider-Man: Far From Home co-star Jake Gyllenhaal, as well as fellow Marvel superhero Ryan Reynolds. Surprisingly, he didn’t nominate his new friend Justin Bieber, who definitely has the free time to attempt this challenge. There’s still time, Tom.[video_embed id='1932092']RELATED: Justin Bieber and Tom Holland go live on IG and fans can’t get enough[/video_embed]Gyllenhaal was the first to respond and posted his own clip, showing off a man bun, some very tight sweatpants, and a physique that is much more Jarhead than Nightcrawler. We’re here for all of it. Gyllenhaal is helping to keep the challenge going, ending his Instagram story by nominating his Prisoners co-star Hugh Jackman, his Southpaw co-star 50 Cent and his sibling co-star, sister Maggie Gyllenhaal. Gyllenhaal, who wore a Russ & Daughters t-shirt for the challenge and tagged the New York deli in his Insta story, also encouraged followers to support their local businesses. Our stanning continues. As for Reynolds, the Deadpool actor is at home with wife Blake Lively and their three daughters, which means he’s likely not getting much time to fit in ab crunches between online homeschooling and figuring out ways to keep three children entertained all day. Plus, some parts of the night. Are they good sleepers? It could be many parts of the night.Reynolds responded to Holland’s challenge by refusing to succumb to peer pressure, instead using the 12 seconds it would have taken 2018 Ryan Reynolds to perform the handstand to instead clearly state his 2020 response. Instead of performing shirtless handstands, which we will still watch even if Reynolds can’t get his shirt on (what be a pity…), the actor has been busy donating his time and money to help those affected by COVID-19. Reynolds and Lively donated $1 million to be split between Feeding America and Food Banks of Canada. Reynolds has also been encouraging his followers to stay home, and used his company Aviation Gin to help bars and restaurants that have been forced to close, pledging 30 percent of the profits from the sale of his liquor to go to bartenders who are out of work. Earlier this week, Reynolds paid a virtual visit to children at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, bringing along his furry friend Detective Pikachu. There isn’t much we like more than shirtless handstands, but that’s pretty cool.
