It looks like the online beauty world has finally reached peak internet levels. Beauty vloggers are always on the lookout for quality makeup products that won’t break the bank — but lately, things have gone from practical to ‘why would we ever do that?’

First it was applying makeup with bra inserts. Then, some gurus suggested we cover our beauty blenders with condoms for better application of foundation. More recently, one vlogger chose to demonstrate what could happen if we traded in our beauty blender all together — for tampons.

Last week, Los Angeles-based influencer Ashley Blue DeFrancesco posted a quirky video to Instagram to show us how we can use tampons to evenly apply foundation.

Tampon or beauty blender YOU DECIDE 😂 lol I think we know what we like more. Laugh at this!

While Sephora prices beauty blenders between $20 and $30, a box of tampons on the other hand will only set you back around $6. But still. There’s only one use for tampons.

While the comment section of the video are packed with sentiments ranging from “ew?” to calling Ashley out on being wasteful, we can kinda guess what her true intention was from the caption. “Tampon or beauty blender YOU DECIDE 😂 lol I think we know what we like more. Laugh at this!”

The video — that has been viewed by 469,000 people and counting — also pictures Ashley cheekily kissing her beauty blender goodbye, showing us that yes, she is in on the joke — and no, she’s not trying to tell us this is best practice.

While her joke “experiment” of sorts doesn’t seem to be getting a lot of laughs, it’s definitely reminding us what a questionable place the internet can be sometimes.

In the end, Ashley did look pretty incredible — but if she doesn’t mind, we’re just going to stick to the overpriced beauty blenders.
