Since learning that everyone’s favourite maid of honour is going to be a bride, we’ve been a little itchy to see Pippa Middleton‘s ring. We apologize for being so low-brow but we needed to check out what kind of diamond a millionaire hedge fund manager such as James Matthews gets the sister of the wife of the future king of England. It’s a lot to live up to considering how much attention she gets, and let’s just say that Mr. Matthews didn’t disappoint — Pippa or us.

The speculation began the day before Pippa released a statement to the press. She attended a charity fundraiser for the British Heart Foundation Monday night and kept her left hand hidden. But her attempts weren’t super-inconspicuous which led to the rumour mill churning and, eventually, the official announcement.

She has since been photographed leaving her home a couple times now, and has been more than happy to flash the “art deco-inspired” asscher-cut diamond (surrounded by a cluster of smaller diamonds).

As for the wedding, there’s already talk that Kate might not be Pippa’s matron of honour and might avoid the bridal party all together. The Duchess would definitely (albeit unintentionally) steal the bride’s thunder so we’d understand if she wanted to stay in the background as much as possible on her sister’s big day. That said, we think Prince George and Princess Charlotte would make an ideal ring-bearing page and flower girl, respectively. Can’t you just see them bounding down the aisle? Hopefully Pippa is OK with some tot-sized thunder-stealing.
