It may seem as though meeting the Mr. and Mrs. of the Royal Family would be all about polo matches and charity balls or big hats or something. But in real life — away from all of that glitz and glamour — meeting Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge is actually a low-key affair.

If, of course, you can afford a super rich, luxury getaway on a private island.

That’s according to one Martin Katz, a renowned Beverly Hills jeweller who was vacationing with his wife Kelly at the resort island of Mustique, where Will and Kate often vacation. Naturally, Katz ran into the English couple and says that (shock!) they really are like us after all.

Well, us on a super rich, luxury getaway on a private island, anyhow.

“I was standing at the [hotel] bar ordering one of the fancy drinks and Kate actually came up to the bar and was quite pleasant and chatty,” Katz told People Magazine. “She couldn’t be more friendly and more open.”

Of course then Katz also chatted up Prince William about scuba diving, before dropping his glass of fruit punch and spraying it all over the prince’s flip-flop feet. Now that’s making a royal impression.

“I was mortified of course, but all I heard was, ‘That was quite refreshing, thank you,'” he shared to the publication. “It was a very embarrassing moment for me, and he was very kind about it, and my wife never lets me forget that moment. I tried [to buy him a round], but I don’t think he was partaking in any more rounds.”

Oh, to be that relaxed on a super rich, luxury getaway on a private island. Where there’s a no-fly zone and hidden beaches that can only be seen by non-residents from the sea.

According to Katz and People, Will and Kate cozied themselves in a little villa overlooking said beach, where they would surface from every once in a while to mingle with the “regular” vacationers.

“Kate looked very casual, she wasn’t particularly wearing makeup, she looked lovely. She just couldn’t be more gracious and talked to everybody who would talk to her. It wasn’t like she was working the room, but if someone wanted to speak to her, she was happy to speak,” Katz added. “They were lovely and they couldn’t be more present. What struck me was that they were human like everybody else, dressing to fit in like everybody else.”

So there you have it: Will and Kate — just like us.
