The snacks have been crafted, the drinks are bubbly, votes have been tallied and the statues have been polished. As Jimmy Kimmel takes to the stage to host the 89th Academy Awards, we’ve got our eyes on all things winners.

Will La La Land follow up on its Golden Globes landslide by taking home all of the awards? Can Moonlight rake in some anticipated big wins? And who will pull a Meryl with a monumental speech to remember?

Follow along with us live as we update you on all of the winners (bolded in the categories below), and highlight all of the best parts of their speeches. Cheers!

Lucas Hedges, Manchester by the Sea
Dev Patel, Lion
Michael Shannon, Nocturnal Animals

Quotable moment:

“I want to thank my teachers… one of the things they consistently told me is it isn’t about you… it’s about these characters,” Ali kicked off his speech. Our favourite part was how he ended it though. “And lastly I just want to thank my wife who was in her third trimester in awards season. We just had a daughter four days ago. I just want to thank her for being such a soldier throughout this whole process and for really carrying me through it all. So thank you.”

COSTUME DESIGN

Quotable moment:

“Sting told me I was going to win tonight, and I was like, ‘What? I didn’t believe him.’ Obviously I didn’t prepare anything… thank you all very much.” And that’s why we always listen to Sting, people.

Quotable moment:

“I want to acknowledge I wouldn’t be standing here right now if it weren’t for two people who aren’t with us: Ron Goldman, Nicole Brown … this is for them and their families. it is also for others — the victims of police violence, police brutality; racially motivated violence and criminal injustice. This is their story as well as Ron and Nicole’s. I am honoured to accept this award on all of their behalves,” and with that Ezra Edelman got all the applause.

SOUND EDITING

Arrival

Quotable moment:

“This award by far is a collective award made by people from many countries around the world led by the Quebec team — salut Montreal… Amy Adams you are a wonderful person and a profound actress. You can work hard and then someday you can win an Oscar and you can stand up on that stage and you can thank me in front of the whole world.'”

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

Viola Davis, Fences
Naomie Harris, Moonlight
Nicole Kidman, Lion
Octavia Spencer, Hidden Figures
Michelle Williams, Manchester by the Sea

Quotable moment:

“There’s one place that all the people with the greatest potential are gathered. One place. And that’s the graveyard. People ask me all the time, what kind of stories do you want to tell, Viola? And I say, ‘exhume those bodies, exhume those stories… the stories of the people who dreamed big and never saw their dreams come to fruition. People who fell in love and lost.’ I became an artist and thank God I did because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life,” Yup. Viola Davis not only just won an Oscar, she took down the Oscars with that speech.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM

Land of Mine
A Man Called Ove
The Salesman
Tanna
Toni Erdmann

Quotable moment:

Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farad didn’t show up to accept his award, which he explained in a pretty powerful statement.

“I’m sorry I’m not with you tonight, my absence is out of respect for the people of my country and those of the other six nations who have been disrespected by the inhumane law that bans entry of immigrants to the US. Dividing the world into the “us” and “our enemies” categories creates fear. A deceitful justification for aggression and war. These words prevent democracy and human rights in countries which have themselves been victims of aggression. Filmmakers can turn their cameras to capture shared human qualities and break stereotypes of various nationalities and religions. they create empathy between us and others. an empathy which we need today more than ever.”

Quotable moment:

Okay so maybe there wasn’t anything to really highlight from the acceptance speech itself (it was, after all, just a bunch of “thank yous”). But holy heck husband and wife team David Wasco and Sandy Reynolds-Wasco are freaking cute together. It makes us happy they won the award.

VISUAL EFFECTS

The Jungle Book

FILM EDITING

Quotable moment:

Justin Hurwitz is our new favourite succinct Oscar winner for these words.

“I’ll just leave it at, anybody whose work is onscreen in anyway in this movie, I was looking at your work when I was scoring this picture. I was looking at what you did when I was scoring the picture. So that’s what I did, and thank you to everybody who worked on this movie.”

Quotable moment:

“The movie’s about people trying to take care of each other in the face of terrible adversity…” Kenneth Lonergan said before launching into a list of the amazing people who helped him in his life. That included his stepfather for taking care of his mother these past five years, and his father who passed away this year. Since we were all still drying our eyes from the In Memoriam portion of the evening, it was actually pretty touching.

WRITING (ADAPTED SCREENPLAY)

Arrival
Fences
Hidden Figures
Lion
Moonlight

Quotable moment:

“I told my students be in love with the process not the result, but I really wanted this result because a bajillion people watching and all you people out there who feel like there’s no mirror for you, that your life’s not reflected, the Academy has your back, the ACLU has your back, we have your back and for the next four years we will not leave you alone. We will not forget you.”

DIRECTING

Arrival
Hacksaw Ridge
La La Land
Manchester by the Sea
Moonlight

Quotable moment:

Not only did Damien Chazelle become the youngest-ever director to win this award, but he also won our hearts when talking about the gal he met while making the movie too.

“Last I want to thank my love Olivia (Hamilton). This was a movie about love and I was lucky enough to fall in love while making it. It means the world to me that you’re here sharing this with me.”

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE

Casey Affleck, Manchester by the Sea
Andrew Garfield, Hacksaw Ridge
Ryan Gosling, La La Land
Viggo Mortensen, Captain Fantastic
Denzel Washington, Fences

Quotable moment:

“One of the first people who taught me how to act was Denzel Washington and I just met him for the first time tonight…. I’m only here really because of the talent and goodwill from so many people who are impossible to name… I’m just dumbfounded that I’m included.”

Don’t worry Casey, that shell shock will wear off soon enough.

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE

Isabelle Huppert, Elle
Ruth Negga, Loving
Natalie Portman, Jackie
Emma Stone, La La Land
Meryl Streep, Florence Foster Jenkins

Quotable moment:

Want to know why we love Emma Stone so much? Because she says things like, “I realize that a moment like this is a huge confluence of luck and opportunity and so I want to thank Damien Chazelle for the opportunity to be part of a project that was so special and once in a lifetime.”

Or like, “And to all my friends? I’m going to hug the hell out of you when the feeling re-enters my body. I still have a lot of growing and learning and work to do and this guy (points at Oscar) is a really beautiful symbol to continue on that journey and I’m so grateful for that.”

BEST PICTURE

Arrival
Fences
Hacksaw Ridge
Hell or High Water
Hidden Figures
La La Land
Lion
Manchester by the Sea
Moonlight

Quotable moment:

“There’s a lot of love in this room, and let’s use it to create and champion bold and diverse work. Work that inspires us towards joy, towards hope and towards empathy.”

Oh wait sorry. THAT was the speech when Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway accidentally pulled a Steve Harvey and announced that La La Land won.

“There was a time when I thought this movie was impossible because I couldn’t bring it to fruition. I couldn’t bring myself to tell the story. And so everybody behind me on the stage said, ‘No. That is not acceptable.’ So I just want to thank everybody behind me and everybody out there. We didn’t choose this, you chose us. Thank you.”

And that folks, is how you end a dramatic awards show.
