If you’re an aspiring princess-to-be, you better get out your notepad and pen. We’ve got something new to add to the list of things Meghan Markle can’t do now that she’s a Duchess. Joining the trash bin with exposed shoulders, social media, and PDA are wedges, a form of footwear that many stiletto-hating women turn to as a compromise when it comes to adding those extra inches.

The reason? According to Vanity Fair, the Queen hates wedges in their entirety.

“She really doesn’t like them and it’s well known among the women in the family.” A source told Vanity Fair back in 2015.

Wedges aren’t the only thing the Queen despises. Meghan and her new sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, can find these on the ‘absolutely not’ list: wearing dresses without pantyhose and rocking a bright coloured manicure. Apparently, the Queen has been wearing the same shade of Essie nail polish (Ballet Slippers) for 28 years! Talk about sacrifices.

Having been in the Royal Family for longer than Meghan, Kate (a known fan of wedges) seems to be a pro at respecting the Queen’s wishes while also staying true to her…feet?

Though she never wears a platform heel during formal occasions, Middleton has been spotted dusting off her wedges for casual engagements when the Queen is not around. Perhaps Meghan will take a page out of her book?

If not, we’re sure there are millions of women who wouldn’t mind taking Meghan’s unauthorized pre-princess footwear off her hands (or…in this case, feet).
