It’s been a whirlwind trip for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who spent their first four days in India and are now in Bhutan for two. Before leaving Kaziranga National Park, where they went on a safari, fed baby elephants and rhinos, and did a little painting, someone asked the royal couple why they didn’t bring along their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. (Side note: Well done, people of India. You don’t hesitate when it comes to asking the questions we all want to ask but would never dream of, no?)

But Kate was happy to answer, and her reply was spectacular — and very, very relatable for anyone who’s had a rambunctious toddler.

“Because George is too naughty,” Kate reportedly said. “He would be running all over the place.” Ha!

She did make sure to add, “The next time we come we will definitely bring them.”

See what she did there? She packed a lot in that little sentence. Not only do they plan on returning to India — which will undoubtedly make the country and its people very, very happy — but she and William won’t be alone and will have both George and Charlotte by their side.

The royals were at an event watching young dancers and it was enough to make Catherine miss her kids, admitting that the girls, in particular, reminded her how much she missed Charlotte.

And it’s obvious William also misses his children. The way he interacted with one mischievous boy, you could almost see the parallels between the lad and George, which Will no doubt recognized as well.

Any chance the couple get to interact with kids, they grab it, and you can see it in their eyes and smiles how much joy they get from those brief meetings. This is the longest Kate has been apart from her kids, so it’s totally understandable that even though she’s loved her time away, she can’t wait to get back. You know, like basically every mom and dad.

Things didn’t change in Bhutan, where the royals were drawn to more adorable kids.

And while we would’ve loved to see George and Charlotte in action (can you imagine how they would’ve reacted to the elephants and rhinos?!), they would have been more work than Will and Kate could handle. Guess we’ll just have to wait until next time!
