Everybody get ready to do the Truffle Shuffle.
Goonies never say die, so it’s only appropriate that the rumours of a Goonies sequel will never die either — not until a sequel actually gets made, anyhow. And according to one person who matters one heck of a lot, there will indeed be a sequel.
At some point.
That’s what Goonie for life Sean Astin says, anyhow. If you’ll recall, he played Mikey in the 1985 classic. Thirty years later, that film is still the one thing people continue to ask the actor about, despite the fact that he also starred in films like Rudy and Lord of the Rings. As it turns out, he might be a little tired of talking about it.
Astin took to Facebook to tell the world that a Goonies sequel will happen, but when and with who remains very much a mystery. And that’s as good as we’re all going to get for right now.
In our minds, a Goonies sequel would definitely need to include all of those same players in order to capture the same magic. Maybe they actors could reunite on screen and then go on an adventure with their sons and daughters? Or, maybe we just follow their kids alone as they encounter Sloth 2.0. You know, during “their time.”
C’mon, who doesn’t want to see that face again?
Sadly, despite Astin’s assurances, there is still nothing officially in the works. So excuse us while we go watch the movie again, and put our Truffle Shuffles on hold.
