To a lot of people, Murphy Brown is the woman we need right now. And on the series revival Thursday night, Murphy Brown made the point that Hillary Clinton might be the woman we needed … you know, about 688 days ago. In a surprise guest appearance, the former presidential candidate and Secretary of State interviewed for a position as Murphy’s secretary with about the same level of success as the last time she applied for a job.

Hill may not have landed the role, but she landed quite a few jokes, mostly at her own expense. In a characteristic pantsuit, Clinton threw out line after line about her job experience, emails and even the unconventional spelling of her name.

“I get that a lot,” Clinton said when Murphy pointed out that her character, Hilary Clendon, looks just like a certain former First lady, “But my name is spelled with one ‘L.'”

When asked if she had any secretarial experience, Clinton responded pointedly, “Absolutely, I was the secretary– I was the secretary of a very large organization.” She was also sure to mention her experience with emails.

Her final punch was handing over a business card with the email address, “Hilary@YouCouldHaveHadMe.com.”

Reviews of the appearance were mixed. Some people were happy to see Clinton (especially on the day of the Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford Senate hearing) and others just didn’t want the politics of it.

Expect to see a whole lot more Hillary on your TV screen soon. Not only did she appear on a recent episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she will fittingly make a cameo on Madam Secretary sometime this season alongside fellow former Secretaries of State Madeline Albright and Colin Powell.
