Charmed fans, your reunion dreams are almost, sorta, for a few moments coming true. Just announced, Phoebe and Piper Halliwell, a.k.a. Alyssa Milano and Holly Combs, will be together on screen as sisters once again — except this time they’re playing characters on Grey’s Anatomy.

Milano and Combs are reuniting as two women whose sister is rendered brain-dead after falling in a construction site. The siblings must decide the fate of their sister, who for some reason is not being played by either Shannen Doherty or Rose McGowan. Milano and Combs played powerful witches the Halliwell sisters for all eight seasons of Charmed, starting in 1998. Doherty was an original cast member and the third sister, but her character was killed off in Season 3. She was replaced by McGowan, who played the women’s half-sister until the series ended in 2006. Grey’s Anatomy loves killing siblings and finding half-sisters! Charmed was rebooted recently and aired its first season in 2018, but the upcoming Grey’s Anatomy episode will mark the first time Combs and Milano have been on screen together since their show ended.

We’re excited to have the charmed ones @milano_alyssa and @thehmc guest-starring on #GreysAnatomy! #CastFromThePast

While we like to think that Combs and Milano appearing on screen together again is some sort of TV magic, it’s not. The reunion is part of ABC’s special “Cast From The Past” week that will take place in October. Dan Aykroyd will appear on The Conners, reuniting him with his Blues Brothers 2000 co-star John Goodman. The Rookie will feature show lead Nathan Fillion reuniting with his Castle co-stars Seamus Deaver and Jon Huertas. Kirstie Alley, Rhea Perlman, George Wendt, and John Ratzenberger will have a Cheers reunion on The Goldbergs, and fans of The Drew Carey show can tune in to see Drew Carey, Kathy Kinney, and Ryan Styles reunited with their co-star Diedrich Bader on Bader’s show American Housewife. Black-ish, Single Parents, and Bless This Mess are also included in the Cast From The Past special.

While none of the cast members of Grey’s Anatomy appeared on the original version of Charmed, Grey’s showrunner Krista Vernoff and executive producer Andy Reaser were writers on the show. Similarly, House actor Robert Sean Leonard will appear on The Good Doctor, with both shows created and executive produced by David Shore.

Combs shared a picture of herself along with Milano, Vernoff and Reaser on set of Grey’s Anatomy and in true Grey’s Anatomy fashion, there are already tears.

Grey’s Anatomy returns with new episodes on Thursday, September 26 at 8 p.m. ET. Alyssa Milano and Holly Combs’ Charmed reunion will be featured on the October 10 episode.
