It’s difficult to remember life before online pregnancy announcements. What did people do ten years ago when it was time to tell their friends and family they were expecting? Did they go door to door? Spend all weekend on the phone calling their loved ones? Buy pregnancy announcement cards from Hallmark and send via snail mail? We honestly can’t remember.
What we do know is that in 2017, the best, and seemingly only way, to announce a pregnancy is by putting something time consuming and creative online. Coming up with an interesting and often complicated photo shoot or viral video is a great way to initiate parents-to-be into the ‘Get ready to be exhausted all the time’ club. New members are always being accepted.
Pregnancy announcements can include the intricate and extreme, like this dad who spent three days setting up a Rube Goldberg Machine that ran through his entire house to announce the sex of his child.
They can also be a bit more low key, like this new mom-to-be who used a Starbucks Unicorn Frappucino to tell her partner she was pregnant.

If you want to keep things patriotic, there’s also the couple that put a Roll Up The Rim spin on their pregnancy announcement.
This year’s biggest Roll Up winners. Congrats Colin and Michelle and thank you for the photo! pic.twitter.com/CyDi3AnrX8

One couple recently managed to use items they already had to create a memorable pregnancy announcement. Reddit user, and cosplay fan, ocularis01 put his Batman suit to good use when announcing the upcoming birth of his child. Posing with his wife, a Batgirl fan, the two held a photo shoot with a small Robin costume as the perfect way for the comic fans to announce their pregnancy.
Posting the pictures on Reddit, ocularis01, who has a bit of a Ben Affleck Batman chin happening, said the shoot took about an hour and incorporated costumes the couple already owned.
The couple are already fans of kids, using their impressive costumes to save the day at birthday parties and fundraisers. Writing on the Reddit board, ocularis01 says “We mostly use the suits for fundraisers, kids’ birthdays, and local children’s events. They enjoy it, and we love doing it.”
We have a feeling this kid is going to have some really fun parties while growing up.
