All season long, How To Get Away With Murder has been building towards the big reveal of who was under the sheet. Each episode crossed off another name, with last week’s final moments leaning towards a safety sweep by the Keating 5 and the high likelihood that the body either belonged to Frank or Nate.

We knew the reveal was coming. We had eight episodes to prepare. We were told by weekly promos to ‘get ready.’ We weren’t ready.

NOT WES!

CTV

With all signs in the final moments pointing to Nate, HTGAWM did what it does best and totally played us, performing the old switch-a-roo and putting Wes and his half-burned body under the sheet. That damn sheet!

So, now we have to deal with the fact that our beloved Waitlist, the sweet-faced, Rebecca-saving, Annalise-saving, finally-getting-Laurel, bike riding, messenger-bag carrying, orphaned Wes is gone.

Oh, and he was dead before the fire. DIDN’T SEE THAT ONE COMING EITHER.

Still, we have some questions.

1.What happened to Nate?

We saw Nate go into Annalise’s house, but we didn’t see him leave. Was he there when the house exploded? Did he get out moments before? Did he see anything suspicious? Did he set the fire? How often does he work out? Any cardio or just weights?

2. Did Frank do it?

In his final effort to prove his sociopath status, did Frank kill Wes and then blow up Annalise’s house? Was this an act to show his loyalty to Annalise or to save Bonnie from going to jail for Rebecca’s murder? In the final moments before the explosion, we heard Laurel audibly yelling for Annalise. If Frank was behind the fire, this either means he had previously set the explosion and didn’t know Laurel would be there or that he did know Laurel was inside and tried to kill her as well.

3. Did Bonnie do it?

The police are investigating Annalise for Rebecca’s murder, a murder that was actually carried out by Bonnie. She had the most to lose, making Bonnie an obvious choice for killing Wes and planting Rebecca’s murder on him, the ‘always suspected ex-boyfriend,’ as the police described his role in the case.

4. Why did Annalise lie about Wes?

When Oliver arrives at the crime scene he’s told by Annalise that she doesn’t know who’s under the sheet, when in fact she does. Why does she lie about this to Oliver?

CTV

5. Who is the father of Laurel’s baby?

Did Frank know about the baby and kill Wes to be with Laurel? Did Wes know about the baby and make a deal with the police so that he would be around for his child and not in jail? Did Laurel even know she was pregnant? Considering how much champagne she was drinking this week we’re not so sure she was aware of her condition. But seriously, those eyebrows need to be passed down to future generations. On #fleek.

6. Is Oliver ever gonna figure out the bonfire thing?

It’s been two seasons. Come on, Oliver.

CTV

7. Are we sure Wes is dead?

Like, any chance he may start breathing again? We miss him already.
