How To Get Away With Murder is really good at a lot of things. For example, writing surprising cases, like this week’s pro bono case for a 15 year-old boy. Shocking deaths, like Frank killing Bonnie’s father. Scene-stealing pregnancy announcements, this week from a very crispy Laurel. Showing off how beautiful Philadelphia looks in the fall.

One thing How To Get Away With Murder is not here to do is make romance look easy. Or make relationships look easy. Or make dating look easy. Or make any of those things look remotely pleasant.

Breaking up is hard to do and on this show, it’s also messy. We’re still sadly watching the death of Conniver, with the highly dislikable Simon Drake now throwing himself into the mix. So, his sideburns and Oliver are or aren’t hooking up? Was that comment just a well placed burn or is Oli lying?

If Oliver really wants to be on his own and find himself, he’ll do that at a job that his ex-boyfriend didn’t get him. We’ll forgive Oliver, partly because he’s frankly a ray of sunshine in this dark and murderous show, and partly because his speech tonight on dating while positive was an important topic to be discussed on prime-time.

The return of Eve seems to be the final nail in the Nate-Annalise coffin, a death we’re only sad about because it means less of Nate. We like seeing more of Nate. Their relationship has always been one that didn’t make much sense and frankly made us feel bad for Nate. He was painted as the bad guy for looking for comfort while his wife was dying, then he forgave Annalise after she framed him for murder. How does a relationship come back from that? It doesn’t and it finally exploded this week, with Nate calling Annalise out on her drinking and Annalise being a mean drunk. Gurl, you’re gonna miss those abs.

Asher and Bonnie are no longer together, with Asher now the embarrassment of Michaela, but at least we did get to see something positive from their relationship, with Asher understanding Bonnie’s need to put a pedophile teacher behind bars.

That brings us to Frank, who for some reason killed Bonnie’s father. Like, we know why he killed him, but also, why did he kill him? Was this Frank’s way of getting back into Bonnie’s good graces and using those graces as a gateway back to Annalise? Is it something Frank has always wanted to do and now has the time for, thanks to his status as unemployed? Was he just in the neighborhood? Is he in love with Bonnie and not Laurel? And is he the father of Laurel’s baby?

Also, how shocking was that? Laurel. Is. Pregnant. Well played, HTGAWM. Well played.

Judging by the constantly moving timeline, Laurel would be two months pregnant in this week’s episode and three months pregnant in the hospital scene at the end of the episode. It could be Frank’s child and make sense that she’s not showing yet. It could also be Wes’ child if the two actually did leave the friendzone, which would mean Meggie delivering the baby news to the doctors is even more of a slap in the face.

Season 3 of How To Get Away With Murder is building towards a fire at Annalise’s house that claims the life of one character. Each episode will conclude with one or more characters being crossed off the list of possible dead bodies, with this week’s reveal including Meggie, Laurel and the news that Laurel is pregnant.

Survivor List: Annalise, Oliver, Bonnie, Meggie, Laurel + Baby

How To Get Away With Murder airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on CTV
