Last night’s episode of How To Get Away With Murder finally gave us a bit of a backstory to one of the show’s most secretive characters.

Of course, that’s not all that happened. Connor succeeded in helping a domestic abuse victim win her parole hearing, but lost his plea to Oliver to continue their relationship. And Connor didn’t even cheat on him! We’re not ready for this relationship to end, but thankfully we know that Oliver is sticking around for the entire season. More on that later.

Asher and Michaela, who *do* make a lot of sense together regardless of Michaela’s belief that she’s much cooler, look like they may be forced into admitting their relationship status after being found out by Connor. But he’s probably too sad to bother spilling any gossip.

Plus, there is the possible suspension of Annalise, Bonnie’s bloodlust heating up again with Laurel as the target, and Wes clocking in his usual three minutes of sad face per episode.

With so much going on, we almost missed one HUGE reveal that went by in the blink of an eye. While talking to Nate about Frank, Annalise admitted that the two first met because Frank was a patient of her husband Sam. And where was Frank while he was a patient? In jail. Oh dang.

We’ve never really known much about Frank’s background aside from when he agreed to bring Laurel home to his family, who all seemed lovely. But as we’ve learned in HTGAWM, having a nice family doesn’t make you nice. Although we don’t know why Frank was in jail, his actions over the past three seasons, which include two (possibly three) murders with his bare hands and one accidental murder of Annalise’s unborn child, make us think it was a violent crime.

CTV

Did Annalise help get Frank out of jail and that’s why he’s always done whatever she and Sam asked of him? It would explain his unwavering loyalty to Annalise and lack of moral dilemma in doing her dirty work. If Frank did kill Wallace Mahoney, and we’re pretty sure he did, the move would again make sense as a measure to protect Annalise.

With Annalise roping Laurel into her efforts to get Frank back in town and possibly within stabbing distance, it does beg the question – is she trying to get rid of him, her human evidence folder, or rehabilitate him back into her lean, mean, killing machine? Either way, we’re still not used to beardless Frank.

Season 3 of How To Get Away With Murder is building towards a fire at Annalise’s house that claims the life of one character. Each episode will conclude with one more character being crossed off the list of possible dead bodies, with Oliver earning tonight’s reveal. Long live Conniver.

Survivor List: Annalise, Oliver

How To Get Away With Murder airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on CTV
