Summer frizz out of control? Bangs sopping in sweat? Are you generally a greasy, disgusting head during the sweltering summer sun? Get that hair right out of your face with the season’s most practical and popular look: the top knot. It’s an easy look, and it only takes 45 seconds. Less, if you’re some sort of wizard with your hands.

What you need

  • One brush
  • A handful of bobby pins
  • Spritzer bottle of plain ol’ water
  • Edge tamer (optional)

How it’s done

  1. Spray water around the edges of your hair, then brush ’em smooth
  2. If needed, rub edge tamer into the newly smoothed edges
  3. Brush hair into a high ponytail
  4. Split ponytail in half
  5. Twist each section, tuck in back and then hold in place with a pin
