Is it August already?! It goes without saying that, even though fall is just around the corner, we all want to keep the summer vibes going for as long as possible – and what better way to do that than with our wardrobe? A great outfit shift is all about rethinking your summer staples to stylishly transition them into fall, and stylist Erica Wark has all of the tips and tricks to help us do just that.

Check out all of her amazing looks below, and be sure to watch the video above to hear more of her style advice!

TANK TOP

A tank top is a classic summer staple in any wardrobe. This golden yellow tank from Aritzia is a great colour for both summer and fall which makes it especially easy to transition. In the summer, a tank-and-shorts pairing is the way to go, with a tote and lace-up sandals to tie the look together.

For fall, simply add layers. Underneath, try a snake print turtleneck, which is a big print for fall, and then add a great coat to really ground the look. Remember that jewel tones always work beautifully together, so try a bordeaux pant with your deep yellow outfit.

SHIRT DRESS

There’s nothing more comfortable than a shirt dress in the summer; it’s loose and airy and just so easy to wear. Give it a sporty look by wearing it with white sneakers and a simple tote.

Taking our favourite shirt dress into the cooler weather ahead calls for a lot of layering and print-mixing. Underneath the shirt dress, layer a black turtleneck and then add a belt to create a nice shape. On top, have some fun with print by layering a houndstooth coat which is a classic fall print. Add balance to your look with a pair of black leather leggings and black lace-up boots.

WHITE DENIM

There’s nothing more essential than white denim in the summer. Try this pair from the Gap with a striped tee and a pair of flat sandals.

For fall, keep things simple by sticking with stripes! Just make it a long sleeve like this black and white striped turtleneck. A leather jacket, which is a major fall must-have, will tie everything together. Finish the look with a sock boot that fits underneath the hem to cover up those ankles while still showing off the jean’s great details.

SLIP DRESS

Both the slip dress and the colour orange were huge trends for summer, and they’re going to be big for fall too. Wear it on its own when it’s warm out with some delicate jewellery and a flat sandal.

For fall, add those layers! Try a long rust-coloured cardigan over the slip dress and then add some colour with a deep green coat on top of all of that. An orange belt bag and a pair of gold boots is the finishing touch that will take your summer slip dress right into fall.
