Ryan Reynolds is a joker. A handsome, successful, charming joker but a joker nonetheless. All sarcastic tweets, and Instagram-trolling of wife Blake Lively aside, Ryan does have another side to him. He’s also a doting father and loving husband, and showed, Monday night, just how head over heels for Blake he is.

Humans of New York caught up with Ryan and Blake at the Met Gala Monday night, and while we’re not sure what exactly was asked of them, Reynolds said the sweetest, most loving thing about Lively. Nutshell? If you didn’t love them and want to be their best friends before, now you most certainly will.

“She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She’ll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old. And she’s made me a more empathetic person. I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn’t want to remember. She made me remember the good times.”

In a post that could easily have been borderline nauseating, Ryan did what Ryan does best, and made every man want to be him and every woman want to be with him. Because for anyone in love, those are the kind of words you want someone to say about you. Not the typical, predictable lovey-dovey descriptors, but actual REALNESS. Um, we’re not crying, you’re crying.

We’d love to know what Blake would say about Ryan, considering she’s just as good at giving as she is getting.

The Met Gala may be all about the fashion, and Blake and Ryan certainly proved to be tops in that department, but this look of love might be our favourite look of the whole damn thing.
