Can you imagine how cool it would be if Wes Anderson and the late Stanley Kubrick somehow joined forces to make a film? Even though it could never happen in real life, thanks to one of the greatest mash-up movie trailers to ever hit the internet, we now know what that flick might look like. Hint: It’s awesome.
London filmmaker Steve Ramsden happened to notice the similarity between how both Kubrick and Anderson framed their films and decided to mash up their hotel-set classics The Shining and The Grand Budapest Hotel — flawlessly, we might add.
Ramsden called the mash-up The Grand Overlook Hotel after The Shining’s spooky, redrum-filled dwelling. As you can imagine, after mixing Anderson’s Budapest shots and signature music into Kubrick’s horror masterpiece, the trailer plays as less frightening and more like one quirky, hilarious, bloody good time.
Who wouldn’t want to watch this? We wonder if Stephen King likes this any better than he liked Kubrick’s version.
