You probably know him best as the trident-wielding Finnick Odair in the Hunger Games movies. And she is the dragon lady of your dreams (and nightmares) from Game of Thrones. But put Sam Clafin and Emilia Clarke together in a movie where they fall madly in love and we dare you to try and keep your emotions in check.
Me Before You, which is set for a June 3 release, is an adaption of Jojo Moyes’ book which finds Louisa (Clarke) taking on a job as caregiver to a disabled man named Will (Clafin). Will is basically ready to give up on life after an accident puts him in a wheelchair but he promised his parents (Charles Dance and Janet McTeer) he would give them six months before he literally pulls the plug on his life. Enter Lou, who is lovely and charming and quirky and adorable. Things start out rocky, as all movie romances do, but despite his intentions, Will can’t resist her. And she him.
The trailer shows the evolution of their relationship and seeing the hope on his parents’ faces will haunt you. Based on what we see, for all of us who haven’t read the book (no spoilers, please!), it looks like it’s going to end in tragedy, putting us right over the edge. Top that with it all being set to an Ed Sheeran song and we are fully prepared to have our tears jerked. Consider yourselves warned.
