With all of the high profile hook ups, missed appearances, questionable outfit choices, questionable tattoo choices, social media standoffs, and cringe-inducing behaviour, it can be easy to forget that underneath the superstar persona of Justin Bieber is a really talented musician. That’s why we were so excited to hear Justin’s recent cover at the BBC Radio 1 Lounge. It’ll make a Belieber out of anyone.
The Biebs took on Tracy Chapman‘s emotional track “Fast Car” while in the UK recording studio last week, not a surprising choice since Biebs has been covering the song in concert for years, but a choice we always applaud.
Before picking up an acoustic guitar, Bieber revealed that “Fast Cars” is a song from his younger years. “My mom used to play it my whole childhood. It’s a part of my childhood,” said Justin. “It’s one of my favourites.”
Us too, Justin. Us too.
Bieber tweeted later that day that he was nervous during the performance and interview, but we still think he nailed it. The goal of “Fast Cars” is to make the listener cry, right? Yup, nailed it.
I don’t usually get nervous but tonight I was thrown off and I was. Sorry about that. Really wanted to be my best. Hope u all had fun
