You’re sitting on your couch, watching television and texting on your phone. Then it happens: a few sequential beeps in an annoyingly familiar octave. Your phone is dying, but your show is still on. The outlet is too far, and Olivia Pope is just about to blow the lid off of her case. Ah, what do you do? Why is life so hard? Why do you still not have PVR?
But in April, this very real and very familiar situation will become a thing of the past thanks to IKEA. The brand will be introducing its new range of furniture with charging stations built in to the pieces. Built. In.
Call it genius, call it the lazy man’s furniture, call it whatever you want. Whatever you call it, it’s a bona fide game-changer for the affordable furniture market.
So, what’s on deck? IKEA’s Home Smart collection will introduce lamps, a coffee table, bedside tables and charging pads for any surface that all utilize Qi charging stations. And if your phone isn’t compatible, IKEA will be offering covers to ensure you get your juice, when you need a sip from the chalice of the energy gods. Take a look at the Home Smart range, launching in April:
