There are loads of creative Instagram accounts out there looking to help you kill time. Remember the woman who started doodling with her fallen strands of hair on the wall of her shower? Or the Seattle foodie who brought her trippy, multi-coloured pasta to the masses via the popular social media platform?

The competition is stiff, but this new Dogs In Food Instagram page — which digitally edits man’s best friend into all your favourite dishes — is definitely vying for its share of double taps.

The internet is indeed a strange and wonderful place.

“I aim for a mixture of delicious and adorable,” the account’s creator, who wishes to remain anonymous, told The Loop. “Do you want to pet them? Do you want to eat them?”

Well… probably not eat them, right? Okay, maybe just a few kernels of buttered pupcorn, but definitely not the dog. It’s just too cute.

The account has amassed over 30,000 followers since launching three weeks ago. And the first image uploaded was a scrumptious-looking cream puff dessert with a sweet, little Pomeranian face poking out between the pastry’s crusts.

Why start an account that puts mutts in meals? Simple. “Most people love dogs and food, so I thought it would be fun to mash them up,” said the NYC-based creator.

The creator assured us that they don’t discriminate against cats or other animals. Once they even Photoshopped Jill the Squirrel (@this_girl_is_a_squirrel), a rescue squirrel who has 575,000 followers, into a mug of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream.

For now, the only canine affection this digital artist is getting is through their computer screen.

“I don’t have a pup at the moment, but I’ve been eyeing a @danzigbros,” they stated, referencing an account that documents the lives of two very adorable dogs of the Brussels Griffon breed. That’s a solid pick for anyone in the market for a puppy, especially someone who seemingly loves these animals enough to transform photos of them into food porn.

Their favourite masterpiece so far? “Ugh. So hard. Probably the pug cookie,” they said.
