Gone are the days of Justin Trudeau staring longingly into the eyes of President Barack Obama. He’s entered a new
friendship acquaintance with America’s current president, Donald J. Trump. The two leaders met for the first time on Feb. 13 and the internet couldn’t turn its eyes away, due to how utterly awkward it was.
Right off the bat, Trump tried to assert his dominance on Trudeau with his classic I’m-going-to-play-tug-of-war-with-your-arm move, but our PM held strong. People were quick to notice this and gave JT his due:
However, Trudeau’s golden moment came when the two sat down for the usual press photos we’re all accustomed to seeing by now. Canadian and U.S. media alike snapped hundreds of photos during those few precious moments, probably hoping to capture the clear awkwardness–which they did.
Just milliseconds before accepting Donald’s handshake, Justin made a face like no other and, well, the internet ran with it.
