Please, casting gods, let the rumours be true. Deadline.com is reporting that Disney wants Chris Pratt to play Indiana Jones for the studio’s revival of the former Paramount franchise. Pratt trading in his Star-Lord gear for a whip and well-worn leather?
OK, some would argue that there is only one man who should be remembered for Indy and that’s Harrison Ford (sorry, Sean Patrick Flanery and the late, great River Phoenix). And why doesn’t Disney (or any studio, for that matter) pick on a franchise that wasn’t nearly as successful and give it a reboot? But we digress.
Pratt, who jumped to leading-man status after Guardians of the Galaxy, will headline Jurassic World this summer and is due to start yet another remake, The Magnificent Seven, with Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua in April, so he’s keeping busy, perhaps too busy to worry about the fifth Indiana Jones movie. In fact, according to Variety writer Justin Kroll, Pratt didn’t even know he was under consideration for the part.
It’s early days but if Pratt does get the fedora passed down to him, we don’t think anyone will complain too much. Come on, just look at the similarities.
They’re both adorable and charming:
Brave and smart:
And both Ford and Pratt play the rapscallion to a tee:
Pratt’s abs? Well, those would just be a bonus. You’re welcome.
