Lady Gaga is gracing the cover of The Hollywood Reporter for its 25 Most Powerful Stylists issue, but it turns out the whole package was a bit stressful. Seems Gaga gave word to Carol McColgin, THR’s style editor, that she promised Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld that he could photograph her. And McColgin got this news on…March 4. Just so you know, the issue officially hits newsstands on March 27, so yeah, it was very short notice.
But it was worth it:
As you can see, Lady Gaga’s stylist Brandon Maxwell has completely transformed Lady Gaga as of late. She’s focusing less on shock tactics and adopting more classic looks. Here, shot at Coco Chanel’s Paris apartment, Gaga is wearing an ankle-length skirt, but with a street wear feel thanks to the quilted leather jacket. And, well, the chunky gold Chanel belt and chain-adorned jacket are certainly helping her cool up something ordinary.
But, the question is, why now? What has inspired the shift to conventions? Well, her wedding is coming… Perhaps this is her way of telling us, it’s time to settle down.
