The Canadian comedy legend who presented us with TV characters like Ed Grimley, Jiminy Glick, Troy Soren, Brock Linehan and Irving Cohen could be on the verge of making an epic return to our living rooms. It looks like Hamilton, Ontario’s own Martin Short is coming back to television to co-host Maya Rudolph’s long-developing variety show.

Remember last spring when NBC test-aired a special called The Maya Rudolph Show? Well, that one hour of Maya-hosted variety fun has continued to develop behind the scenes, and is close to becoming a recurring show on the network. And according to sources, Short is going to be added as a co-host.

The variety show is tentatively going to be called Maya & Marty and will be produced by Saturday Night Live big cheese (and fellow Canadian) Lorne Michaels.

Some sweet singing, dancing and comedy…can we make this happen already?
