Jada Pinkett Smith attended the premiere of Gemini Man to support her man Will, who plays the lead (leads?) in the new drama thriller. But rather than sparkling in the spotlight, the duo ended up shining light on all the wrong places. In Jada’s case, it was the 4 metres of plastic strip lighting she had wrapped around her neck that cast a shadow her otherwise cute and modern look.
Flip through the gallery below to see Jada’s full outfit as well as some similarly blown opportunities by Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie, Alessia Cara and more.
Is there an on switch for the rope lights Jada Pinkett Smith is wearing?
Charlize TheronCharlize’s tie-dye prairie-outfit was killing the vibe at the kooky goth themed premier for The Addams Family. The collar and cuffs of the shirt are great, but the hippy-dipped king size skirt is not playing along. Getty Images
Annette BeningAnnette’s acting has earned four Oscar nominations, but this outfit is only earning a spot on this list. An all-black getup is oh so easy to pull together—and timeless—but this pantsuit ultimately feels juvenile and old-fashioned. We love you Annette, but not this look.Getty Images
Angelina JolieAngie’s inner Jessica Rabbit is showing with this outfit, and we dig it, except for the extra large bustier like top. She’s a dazzler as always, but this dress would be best left within the cartoon realm.Getty Images
Greta GerwigAre you heading to a funeral after this, Greta? We’re all about the velvet, but this lackluster LBD does nothing for her. We’d like to see her in something a little less formal with more celebration than sorrow.Getty Images
Jada Pinkett SmithJada’s high-waisted trousers with matching crop top and a shimmering overlay is radiant enough without the neck accoutrement that looks like a coil of lights left over from a garage renovation. Are those battery-operated or solar?Getty Images
Joely RichardsonShe’s laughing, but we’re not. The uncertainty of this outfit is not funny. It’s unclear if Joely is wearing a trench, a shirt dress or both. Lose the white button-up, add some double-sided tape, and call us in the morning.Getty Images
Chrishell HartleyPolka dots are all the rage, but this dress looks more like a filled-out Scantron sheet or the results of a pretty bad game of Pacman. Minus the earrings and visible bandeau, Chrishell—the natural beauty that she is—could tastefully carry on.Getty Images
Will SmithThis is more tracksuit than suit-suit. We know Will is an action-ready man, but let’s leave the stripes to Adidas and the athletic wear for the gym... or at least just not the red carpet. Getty Images
Elizabeth HurleyElizabeth usually leaves fans wanting more when she makes a red carpet appearance, but this doesn’t deserve an encore. The butterflies on her shoes are a reminder of the '90s butterfly clip craze, and paired with that sparkly shredded hem jacket, it’s just a bit too much.Getty Images
Lupita Nyong'oIt’s almost as if Lupita grabbed every animal pattern in sight and said that’s that. Being a usual showstopper, the mixing and matching of silky fabric would have suited her better by being a tad more form-fitting and even then, maybe with the use of just one pattern. Getty Images
Andie MacDowellIs it the week of dowdy little black dresses? This LBD isn’t doing any favours for Andie. Being the classic beauty that she is, we think she could have dressed up this basic dress by pairing it with either a nude or colourful heel.Getty Images
Caleb Landry JonesIt appears Caleb rolled out of bed, stumbled to his dad’s closet and threw on anything he could find. With just a bit of tailoring, we think his look could match his acting chops.Getty Images
Sophia BushSophia, you’re not new to showbiz, so why are you wearing something that you could have worn to the premiere of One Tree Hill in 2003? A little more thought would have gone a long way for this outfit.Getty Images
Alessia CaraMix-match items can be great, but this dress paired with colour block sneakers is not a match in any sense. She’s got to pick one or the other. That dress would look great with a pair of wedge sandals, and the sneakers would be great with anything but that dress.Getty Images
Rachel BrosnahanWe got very excited when we saw this photo, until we scrolled to the bottom of it and saw those boots. Rachel, you were rocking that forest green dress until you decided to pair it with knee high (at least we think they’re knee high) corset boots. Pumps would have been just fine.Getty Images
Tom HiddlestonTom looks as if he’ll be heading back to the kitchen to prep the hors d’oeuvres for the opening of Slave Play. He’s just missing the chef’s hat. Maybe try the jacket unbuttoned next time.Getty Images
Molly RingwaldIs that eye the symbol of the organization that Lemony Snicket and the Baudelaire parents are a part of? Secret society memberships aside, this nightie should have been left on the end of the bed.Getty Images
