According to some people over at Time magazine, Justin Timberlake‘s “Can’t Stop The Feeling”!—the hit tune released in advance of the new Trolls flick—is the worst song of the year.
Ummm… if this is the worst song of the year, then why are our toes still tapping? That good soul is still very much in our feet.
We’re thinking the staff at Time are either looking for clicks or simply need a hug, because this song is more joyful than a baby Troll’s first smile, even after the six months that this “insipid earworm” has been on the air.
Sure we’ll probably reach a point at which we can’t tolerate it anymore, but that point hasn’t arrived yet. And when it does hit, we’re sure we’ll be able to shelve the song—just like we did with “Mirrors”, “Sexy Back”, “What Goes Around” and “Suit & Tie”—and then bring it back into rotation in a year or so when it’s better aged and more nostalgic.
Still, every magazine’s staff is entitled to their opinion, and we don’t disagree with the rest of the list—Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliot‘s “Ghostbuster” (I’m Not Afraid) certainly feels like it belongs. But not JT. Never JT.
We suspect, either way, that Justin isn’t going to let this unflattering title get him down. He has a tendency to just keep dance, dance, dancing.
