Just when we started to take comfort in the fact that our children’s children would likely still be watching fresh episodes of The Simpsons, the show’s executive producer has said that the end of our favourite TV family could be nigh.
Ahead of the show’s season 27 premiere, Simpsons boss Al Jean has revealed that he believes the long running series will wrap up after it’s 30th year. But it could be as soon as season 28. D’oh!
“I wouldn’t be stunned if we stopped at [Season] 28,” explains Jean. “But my bet is on at least [Season] 30. But then you’d have to resign [the cast] again. If you made me pick one, I’d say the likeliest is ending after 30.”
The good news is that Jean admits he’s been wrong before. “I thought five seasons was good when I got there.” Here’s hoping!
And if worse comes to worse, we wouldn’t be averse to a little palm greasing.
But let’s all make sure to really enjoy the next two seasons of The Simpsons just in case.
