This week of Love Island (Monday to Friday at 8 p.m. ET on CTV) has been one bombshell after another and if you thought that Kelsey showing herself the door would be the pinnacle of drama in this chapter, you’re newer here than Emily. Weston and Emily’s hot and heavy hook-up ended abruptly when Emily decided to ask the girls what they thought about Weston. They had thoughts. Oh, they had thoughts.
Emily asked the girls for their opinions on Weston and the robes and the gloves came off. The women agreed that Weston is a great guy to be friends with but a terrible guy to date. Since starting the show, he’s bounced from Mallory, to Katrina, to Kelsey, and now to Emily. Mallory doesn’t really count since they were just friends, but we’ll throw Kyra onto the list for good measure since there was some suggestive talk of catching feelings. This sent Emily into a quiet rage, leading to a confrontation with Weston where she pointed out that he has manipulated all the girls he’s been with to the point where they end the relationship themselves, leaving him looking like the good guy. Damn. She is going to be a great lawyer.
Weston’s hurt feelings weren’t mended by a chat with the girls, who backed up their comments and doubled down to his face. If you took a drink every time the word “genuine” was used tonight, our apologies (shoutout to the Love Island UK watchers who remember how “loyal” Georgia was). Kyra held back and decided whatever little thing she and Weston might have had was now a moot point. Fair. Caro said that Weston wasn’t genuine (drink!) based on his actions and thinks that he’s now saying he has feelings for Emily because their time in the villa is almost done. Also fair. Everybody want that prize money.
The guys were upset that Weston had been ganged up on and confronted the girls about their #truthtalk with Emily. Zac said they ruined what had been a great connection and Yamen added that the “Kyra thing” was never actually a thing. Point: boys. The girls argued that all they did was lay out the facts to Emily, who had been in the dark about some things with Weston. Point: girls.
We haven’t seen a tense moment between Zacbeth since Zac told Christen and Katrina he was “open.” The pair got heated over their differing opinions on Weston, but it appeared that all was forgiven by the time host Arielle summoned everyone to the fire pit. Good. We can only handle one catastrophe at a time. Two at the most.
This was not the ideal time for Weston and Emily to learn they were voted Most Likely To Cheat and Most Likely To Backstab by the “American” (read: North American) public. It’s almost as if the producers had planned it that way…
THAT AWKWARD MOMENT
Every scene with Weston and a girl in it this episode. Every. Single. One.
WHO WE’RE SHIPPING
Caro dropped some truth bombs and Ray supported her. Sew cahuuute.
Emily’s math skills are genuinely concerning.
