Soon-to-be first daughter, Ivanka Trump is shifting focus from her hotel and fashion businesses to, you guessed it, politics.
The 35-year-old will give up her title as VP of development and acquisitions at the Trump Organization as well as the head of her eponymous fashion and jewellery line in order to support her father and husband. It looks as though she won’t be given a formal title (yet), but she’s still selling off her stock and plans to lend a hand and her (sage?) advice to her family nonetheless.
The news comes at the same time as Trump’s appointment of Jared Kushner, Ivanka’s husband, as a senior adviser. He too will be giving up his posts as chief exec of Kushner Companies and publisher of The Observer newspaper.
Um, is this legal?
According to Kushner’s lawyer, Jamie S. Gorelick, it is.
“These steps are consistent with federal law and executive branch practice and evidence Mr. Kushner’s commitment to public service,” Gorelick said in a statement to Vanity Fair.
Now there is a a word for this, isn’t there? What is it again? Oh, right: nepotism.
Still, we know better than to be surprised. Because, regardless of our gaping mouths, Ivanka and Kushner will still be moving their family to Washington, D.C. in the coming months.
And we are thankful that Ivanka is picking one side to focus on, because things were getting real blurry during the campaign.

There’s no word on what this means for the future of Ivanka Trump the fashion and accessories line, but we’re confident you’ll still be able to buy those stacked-heel mules you had your eye on from a variety of retailers.
