Ivanka Trump is used to getting backlash from the Internet, whether it’s for an ironic tweet about religious tolerance or a grammatical error of epic proportions. And this past week was no different. The president’s daughter wanted to celebrate the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Sure, they may have announced their upcoming nuptials three weeks ago but, hey, better late than never?

Hmm, perhaps having three children ages six and under gives her different priorities, as Ivanka latched onto the most recent announcement to come out of Kensington Palace, Harry and Meghan’s wedding date (set for May 19, 2018 at Windsor Castle, pfft, like y’all didn’t know). Or maybe the potential fate of her husband, Jared Kushner, has left her scattered as of late.

Whatever the case, Ivanka’s attempt to recognize the royal love affair the rest of the world has been cartwheeling about did not go over well with the masses. And because the masses are a very vocal, opinionated bunch, they took shot after shot at Ivanka. Her eleventh-hour hustle for an invite, it seems, is too little, too late.

Um. They said it, we didn’t.
