J.K. Rowling is continuing her reign as one of the most prolific writers of the 21st century with the latest announcement that she’s releasing four new books (e-books, if you’re being particular) in June. The British author must have found an extra five minutes between writing the next script in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, the sixth instalment in the Cormoran Strike detective series, and expertly trolling the President of the United States on Twitter. What did we do to be so lucky to get Rowling?

Rowling’s final Harry Potter book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released in 2007, but the author has continued to add to the Potter world with other projects, including the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them film franchise. Now Pottermore, the site that publishes extra Potter content from Rowling, has announced that four eBooks will be released this summer, with the first two dropping on June 27.

The four ‘bitesized’ reads are inspired by the British Library exhibition and its companion book Harry Potter: A History of Magic. Each book will focus on a different Hogwarts lesson and include a history of traditions from the famous school for wizards. All four books will be brought to life by illustrations from London-based artist Rohan Daniel Eason.

In 2018, Rowling and Pottermore released Harry Potter – A Journey Through A History of Magic, which included an audiobook narrated by Game of Thrones actor Natalie Dormer. The four new eBooks are adaptations from this audiobook and will expand on the topics, while also featuring manuscript pages and notes that will continue the ongoing education of muggles in everything magic.

All four eBooks will be available on Amazon, Apple and Kobo and translated into English, French, Italian and German. Harry Potter: A Journey Through Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts and Harry Potter: A Journey Through Potions and Herbology will both be released on June 27, with Harry Potter: A Journey Through Divination and Astronomy, and Harry Potter: A Journey Through Care of Magical Creatures coming soon.
