The great J.K. Rowling has ruled the wizarding world for some time and now she thinks it’s time she conquered another land of sorts: The Twittersphere. And, to be honest, we’re completely OK with her takeover because she’s, well, pretty awesome.

For the past year, the billionaire who gifted us with Harry Potter has been making inroads in the Twittersphere with her quick-witted and touching tweets. Here’s why J.K. is basically the only person you need to be following on Twitter:

1. She reveals earth-shattering things to us 140 characters at a time

Seriously, how else would we know that the Potter’s son would be heading to Hogwarts in 2015…or that Hadrid is Patronus-free?

2. She knows how to shut the haters down

When someone called Rowling a “c*nt” and a “JK bitchface” in a now deleted tweet, J.K. took it in stride and sprinkled a little humour into it too:

God, she’s funny.

3. She can tone it down too

Remember when a Harry Potter fan asked why Dumbledore was gay and J.K. responded with this:

CA4NfxkUMAAxX0e

Well, a bunch of people — including us — got super offended that someone would even ask a question like that, but J.K. still came to the (ignorant) fan’s rescue:

How sweet.

4. J.K. says we all went to Hogwarts!

So. Many. Tears.

5. Westboro Baptist Church has nothing on her

When Rowling said wizards Dumbledore and Gandalf could get married in Ireland if they wanted to…

…the hate-filled Westboro Baptist Church tried to kill her buzz.

But J.K. was having none of it.

You know who’s full of sheer awesomeness? J.K. Rowling.

6. Compassion just oozes out of her

If you’re ever feeling down and out, just look at Rowling’s Twitter timeline. It’s riddled with inspiring pictures and kind words of wisdom. When a fan told her that they had basically lost their will to live, she pulled out all the stops.

Seriously, how are you not crying right now?

7. She invented a new hashtag (#FluglyOwl)

No explanation needed.

As you can tell, the great J.K. Rowling isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. So, sit back, hit that follow button and relax, it’s going to be a very enjoyable ride.
