For years, fans have been wanting Jennifer Lopez to headline the Superbowl halftime show. But Lopez is a busy lady, balancing film and television projects and her music career, so it's never worked out. Until now.According to Us Weekly, there's talk she may be ready to take the stage at Super Bowl LIV. It also helps that the game will be held in Miami, one of J.Lo's favourite places. It's where she and fiancé Alex Rodriguez spend a lot of time, and also where A-Rod grew up. But considering what's been going on in the NFL over the past few years, and the backlash other musicians have had after signing on to perform, will J.Lo face the same heat?If you recall, people petitioned for last year's headliners — Maroon 5, along with Travis Scott and Big Boi — to bail on the performance (they didn't), though Scott did donate $500,000 to Dream Corps, a non-profit organization that champions social justice, in partnership with the league. The controversy has been going on for a while, ever since former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started the #TakeAKnee movement to protest racial and social injustices, and fans and artists rallied around him. But now that Jay-Z has teamed up with the NFL as a consultant, to advise as a "live music entertainment strategist" and inspire the league to "make some changes," "be all-inclusive" and "do some good," who better for him to enlist to kickstart that change than J.Lo?Heck, she's already part of the NFL fam. Just think of all the special guests that'll pop on stage if Lopez signs on. Her ex, Marc Anthony, of course. We can also see her getting real with Ja Rule and on the floor with Pitbull. And we'd totally be OK if she shook her booty with Iggy Azalea. Speaking of J.Lo's booty, it's been quite a year for the singer-actress-World of Dance judge. She and A-Rod got engaged, she wrapped her It's My Party tour and, of course, there's her movie Hustlers, which she stars in and produces, and is getting all kinds of buzz, particularly for her potentially Oscar-worthy performance.Lopez was on Good Morning America recently where she proudly boasted about it being "produced by women, written and directed by a woman [Lorene Scafaria], edited by women, starring all women." Girl power, sure, but Jen reassured fans that men will "like it too." No kidding. But it's the Oscar buzz and all the critical acclaim the movie and her performance is getting that got Jen super-emotional. She's proof that hard work pays off. An Academy Award and a Super Bowl halftime headliner? Only J.Lo. Super Bowl LIV is set for February 2, 2020. The Academy Awards air a week later.
