Jack Black is many things… funny, talented, loveable, humble and—so it would seem forgetful. On the red carpet promoting his latest film Jumanji: The Next Level, a reporter quizzed Black on his favourite holiday movie, and his answer might surprise you.“You know what, it’s gotta be Elf,” the actor replied, and really, his answer was in good taste—Elf is an absolute classic. The reporter, however, didn’t miss a beat, expressing her appreciation for his humility. “You could have said your own movie” she clarified, to which Black stared back at her, visibly confused, forgetting (even if only for a few seconds) that he did, in fact, star in a holiday film. Come on, Jack, how could you forget about The Holiday? Our favourite feel-good, holiday love story of 2006 that offered viewers the combined magic of Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, and an ever-dashing Jude Law. Instant classic. Once his memory kicked in, Black exclaimed “Oh, The Holiday! Obviously The Holiday! Nancy Meyers, genius, let’s do this”, before swivelling dramatically back towards his co-stars. Nice save, and a smooth exit. This isn’t the first time a famous movie star has forgotten about a time they were, well, in a movie. During a guest appearance on a cooking show hosted by Chef Roy Choi in June, Gwyneth Paltrow revealed that her scene in Spider-Man: Homecoming was a distant memory… so distant, in fact, it had escaped her entirely. Paltrow was joined by her Iron Man co-star and director, Jon Favreau, who referenced her appearance in the film only to be met with Paltrow’s confusion. In fact, it wasn’t until Favreau described the scene to her that she finally (some might say adorably) remembered. Hey, it happens to the best of us. We might forget things we said (or embarrassing things we did at a staff Christmas party last year), and celebrities? Well, they might occasionally forget movies they were in. Same, same, kind of?As for Black, he’s still hot on the press trails for Jumanji: The Next Level with his (equally hilarious) co-stars The Rock (it feels weird to call him Dwayne), Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. The movie is poised to be another massive box-office hit, and has provided fans with no shortage of hilarious interview moments with the cast.

If you look closely @kevinhart4real brilliantly asks @karengillanofficial to answer first - and you can see Kev’s masterful mind spinning for an answer. Then ? it hits him. Then ? he heard “FINISH HIM” in his head and delivered the final death blow to me. When he says “I’ll pick DJ cos I don’t know what it’s like to be stupid” my stomach immediately started to hurt from laughing so hard ?????????? But juuuuuust when you think The Rock ain’t answering the 10 count... I rise up out of the ashes to deliver the FINAL BLOW. Black has also teased that this might be his last movie, and that he’s enjoying the idea of early retirement. “I’ve been saying for a long time that this is the last movie," he told Balance. "We’ll see. I can’t really say what my next thing is because it’s too early; it’s a jinxer. I’ve got a couple of tricks up my sleeve. But not too many. I’m looking to wrap it up pretty soon. Ride off into the sunset.”Don’t worry though, the actor clarified that “if [Quentin] Tarantino comes a-knocking” he’s going to do that movie. In the meantime, we’ll just be here streaming The Holiday in true pre-Christmas fashion.
