Jacob Tremblay is not your average 12-year old. He’s attended the Oscars. He’s chatted with Leonardo DiCaprio about their favourite types of ice cream. He has his own lawyer (who looks an awful lot like Tobey Maguire). AND he can do a mean impression of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
While visiting The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon (weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on CTV), he revealed that during his time filming The Predator (the 2018 sequel to the original 1987 movie starring The Arnold), he perfected a Schwarzenegger impression to put the best impressionists to shame. Hey, when a kid hears a “sick accent” like Arnold’s and has the acting chops to pull it off, we would expect nothing less.
Tremblay moved effortlessly from Arnold’s “Get to the chopper!” line to the less-film-based, “I need to eat some schnitzel! It’s in my tummy. Yum yum in my tummy.” We don’t know that we’ve ever heard Arnold say anything quite like that, but we do know he loves his wienerschnitzel.
Lucky for us, Tremblay didn’t stop at just one impression—he also attempted fellow Canadian and Good Boys producer Seth Rogen’s infamous laugh, which he hilariously likened to “Santa smoking cigarettes.” Spot on, Tremblay.
Clearly this kid is swimming in raw acting talent. So much so that he could ~maybe potentially~ be heading under the sea. Rumours have been circulating that Jacob is in talks to take on the role of Ariel’s best friend Flounder in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. When Fallon mentioned it to his young guest, Tremblay expertly avoided confirming anything by making his play for a different role.
“I’ve also heard the rumours,” he said coyly. “My people have told me that it is between me and Harry Styles for the role of Prince Eric.” How adorable is this kid?? HIS PEOPLE. He went on to admit that while Harry may be “a good looking dude,” he probably doesn’t have the singing or acting chops that Tremblay does. Savage… and we are so here for it. So far, Styles has been rumoured for the part of Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy is allegedly in talks for Ursula and Halle Bailey has been confirmed as the titular little mermaid.
It looks like Tremblay’s “people” certainly are busy, fielding all those acting calls while organizing his current Good Boys press tour. The film stars Tremblay as a young boy who is invited to a “kissing party” and then, along with his two best friends, embarks on a mission to learn to how kiss to gain “cool kid” status.
As far as we’re concerned, Tremblay needs no help in the cool kid department.
