Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have been together for what seems like forever. They have the picture perfect family and they’ll celebrate their 21st anniversary at the end of the year. But before Jada, Will was married to Sheree Zampino Fletcher. And when Will and Jada started dating, he was still married to Sheree. Admittedly, not a great start to their love story, so Jada wanted to square things away with Sheree.

That’s right, for the first episode of Pinkett Smith’s new Facebook Watch series, Red Table Talk, her first guest was none other than Zampino Fletcher. Gulp.

“Because I did not understand marriage. I didn’t understand divorce. I will say that I probably should’ve fell back,” Jada confessed.

Sheree’s response was on point: “You think?!?!”

The two women did laugh about one of their lowest points, a phone conversation which included them exchanging “fighting words” before hanging up on each other.

“I called back and happened to say, ‘Bitch, you living in the house I picked out!’ And you said, ‘It’s my house now,'” said Sheree, who is the mother to Will’s firstborn son, Trey.

Jada then revealed that Will was pissed after their heated exchange, saying, “That is Trey’s mother and that’s just not your place.”

Then things got really emotional when Sheree remembered Trey meeting Jada for the first time. “So Trey comes home and I said, ‘How did you like Miss Jada?’ He said, ‘I really liked her, Mommy.'”

Jada whispered, “Oh my God” in response and began to cry, and that’s when Sheree reached out and began to tear up herself.

“Thank you for loving my baby,” Sheree told Jada. “I’ll tell you, on this side of things, my son could not have a better bonus mom.” Can someone grab us a tissue??

This is the perfect example of being able to get past all the crap and doing what you have to do for the good of the children. Not only has Trey been able to flourish but so too have these two women.

Blended families are nothing new, and maintaining strong feelings of love isn’t always easy, yet the Smiths and Sheree found what works for them. Truly inspiring and, hey, if things get a little awkward at times, that’s really no different than every other family.
