What do you get when you pair James Corden and Tom Cruise and ask them to come up with a montage on The Late Late Show? You get an epic nine-minute sketch that involves them recreating every single one of Tom Cruise’s movie roles, of course.
And you thought the last presidential debate was action packed.
Action, was exactly what viewers got on Wednesday night when the actor stopped by. It wasn’t the first time Corden has helped a celeb act out all of their films, however: he’s done his Role Call sketch with the likes of Tom Hanks, Matt Damon and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the past. Although none of them have been quite this long before.
Cruise and Corden (who appear to be the same height), recreated everything from Top Gun and Days of Thunder to Tropic Thunder and Jerry Maguire, the last of which also featured a pretty great cameo by Cuba Gooding Jr..
Then there was the brilliant recreation of all five Mission Impossible movies. Plus a little musical treat from Rock of Ages… and from Cocktail… and from Risky Business. Oh, and did we mention the perfect throw to Cruise’s upcoming Jack Reacher sequel?
Add in a few head bops, slaps and fake punches and this is pretty much our favourite Tom Cruise project yet. We knew the guy has been in some pretty epic movies over the course of his career, but it’s pretty crazy to see all the titles side-by-side like this. It’s actually quite impressive he and Corden got to them all in under 10 minutes.
But don’t take our word for it — check out the video in its entirety, above.
