It's may be fairly rare in our modern times to have large families but James Van Der Beek and his wife Kimberly are the exceptions in more ways than one.Van Der Beek took to Instagram to reveal that they are going to soon be parents of six. Just like when James announced that he and Kim were expecting their fifth, he is once again "thrilled beyond belief," but this time they decided to share their first ultrasound with the Dancing With the Stars crew around them for a very particular reason. James revealed that while he and Kimberly are blessed with a big brood, they've also experienced loss. Three pregnancy losses, to be exact.James wrote that he and Kimberly wanted to help eliminate the shame around miscarriage, and even suggested the word itself needed to be revised since it's not a failure to carry by anyone. "In an effort to chip away at any senseless stigma around this experience and to encourage people who might be going through it to open themselves up to love & support from friends and family when they need it most. Happily, for us - this time- we walked out with tears of joy."

Thrilled beyond belief to announce that another little bundle of joy has picked us to be their family. We chose to have our first ultrasound on camera with our #DWTS crew capturing the result - something I NEVER thought we’d ever do... but @vanderkimberly and I have been through three of those first appointments to discover either no heartbeat, or no baby, and she wanted to share this moment. Miscarriage (a word that needs a replacement - nobody failed to “carry”, these things sometimes just happen) is something that people rarely talk about, and often go through in secret. But there needs to be zero shame around it, or around giving yourself the time and space to grieve. We decided to put ourselves out there - not knowing what we’d find - in an effort to chip away at any senseless stigma around this experience and to encourage people who might be going through it to open themselves up to love & support from friends and family when they need it most. Happily, for us - this time- we walked out with tears of joy. #AndThenIDancedAQuickStep. • Pic by @jilliangoulding

Because the DWTS cameras were with them, he also shared the news on the show itself, on which he is the early frontrunner. James told his show partner, Emma Slater, "Hearing the heartbeat was, it's something you never take for granted," further explaining, "we've had five kids. We've had three miscarriages in between those."He later added after their quickstep, "To share this kind of joyous news with Emma is a real treat. Miscarriage is something people really don't talk about and we want to recognize that it happens to people. We wanted to destigmatize that as much as we really could."James, 42, and Kimberly, 37, have been married since August 2010 and are parents to daughters Olivia, 9, Annabel, 5, Emilia, 3 and Gwendolyn, 1, and son Joshua, 7.
