We’ve all seen Jamie Foxx showcasing heroics on the big screen, but earlier this week, the Oscar winner became a real life hero too.
On Monday night, a reckless driver crashed his truck into a drainage ditch in front of Foxx’s LA home. The vehicle flipped and hit a pipe, causing it to burst into flames.
Foxx heard the sound of the horrific accident from his house and jumped into action with another witness who luckily happened to be an EMT.
Seeing that the driver was trapped inside the fiery wreckage and bound down by his seat belt, Foxx and the witness smashed the window. The Oscar winner jumped into the truck’s cabin, cut out the driver with a pair of the EMT’s scissors, and dragged the man 30 feet away from the accident.
Foxx spoke to the media yesterday, but was modest about his heroics. “I’m not a hero, but had to do something.”
The driver suffered major head, chest and neck trauma, and is now recovering in an LA hospital.
Foxx posted an Instagram photo with the driver’s emotional father who was shaken and thankful to the actor for saving his son’s life.
Foxx also underplayed his heroics on the post, writing, “Met the father of the young man from last night today. This is all that matters. That a man, a son, a brother’s life was spared last night. God had his arms wrapped around all of us…No heroes…Just happy fathers.”
The driver has since been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
